About the Book
Travels With Sue: Domestic Niobia Bryant is a memoir by American author Niobia Bryant. The book follows Bryant's journey of self-discovery and reconciliation as she travels through the American South with her beloved dog, Sue.
Bryant's journey begins in her hometown of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. She is a successful lawyer and mother, but she is also struggling to come to terms with her own identity and the legacy of racism in her family. As she travels through the South, she meets a cast of characters who help her to see the world in a new way.
She meets a group of black farmers who are fighting to keep their land, a white woman who is working to build a more just society, and a black man who is struggling to overcome the trauma of his past. Through these encounters, Bryant begins to understand the complex history of the American South and the ways in which racism continues to shape the lives of black people today.
